Re: Night hunt on Sunday, April 9th

Loving that gold! Well found, Hawkeye. And thanks for the excellent write-up. I have been working non-stop and haven't had the chance yet to get back on the beaches, but I am hoping to this week. If so, I will send an update. Meanwhile, long may your luck continue!

Well found, Hawk. That CZ-21 seems to be a silver magnet. Keep the pics coming when you can.

And congrats on your retirement. What are you going to study?

Repulse Bay, Hong Kong

I'm in HK for three weeks for work, so I thought I'd try my luck with the Deus (Wet/Dry Beach modes) and a sand scoop. The first tide I caught was on night 1, and I found a small collection of HK clad and the usual (international) rubbish: http://i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah217/antiphonus/IMG_772...

Re: XP Deus Version 4 Update

Loving v4 so far! It seems to be a silver magnet, and the now-standard xy display really helps confirm solid targets as against can slaw. I'm excited to try it on the beach soon. Any other Deus swingers out there ?

3x Silver First Time out with Deus v4

Yesterday I had the whole day to hunt my permissions near Oxfordshire. In light of my upcoming return to the States, I really wanted to make the most of it. It was also my first hunt with version 4, the newly updated Deus firmware. I found it to be a silver magnet, quickly netting my a cut half (sil...

Near the farmhouse 19 March

Just had time for a quick 20 minute hunt as night was coming on quickly. I decided to search near the farmhouse (17th cent.) this time round, and I quickly found a George VI penny from 1938 -- I love the green patina they get! Next I found a modern coin spill: 2 pound coin (not too shabby - pays for...

XP Deus Version 4 Update

Hi All, So I updated to version 4 yesterday. I know there have been reports of difficulties, but for me it went pretty well. I won't get out on my fields until Tuesday to try it out though. I have a lot of farmers' permissions here in the UK, near London (Oxfordshire). The land I search has given up...

Re: My last youtube video

I'm wondering if that 'clip' is a so-called 'dress hook' used to connect parts of clothing? May be worth having a google for dress hooks on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database. Nice finds! Thanks for sharing the video!

Let's Build Up the Forum

Hi All: Chanced across this forum while browsing for a detecting community in NC. I know many of us are probably members of some of the big national forums (while living in the UK, I was a member of the main UK online communities and still am), but I think there is real value in having a locally foc...

Re: 7" or 9" Sand Scoop

After talking to adambomb, I went with the 9", which is on its way now. I went for the carbon fiber handle also: spendy, but I believe in having the right tools for the job when possible, and the scoop comes with a lifetime guarantee...

Re: Club Challenge Cup

I have been going to school in the UK, and last year I found Georgian milled and medieval hammered silver, mostly in Oxfordshire fields but also mudlarking in the Thames River (eyes only). This year will be different, obviously, as I'm moving back to NC. I hope to learn how to beach hunt and find th...
